The History of Morse Code
Morse code was developed in the 1830s and 1840s by Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail. Originally designed for the electric telegraph, it encoded letters as sequences of short and long signals.
The system spread rapidly across railroads, shipping, and military communications. By standardizing on International Morse, nations could communicate across borders with a shared alphabet.
Today, Morse survives in amateur radio CW operations, aviation navigation aids, and accessibility technology. Learning Morse remains a rewarding skill that connects you to over a century of communication history.
